Dr Manuel Liatowitsch (*1972) has been Group General Counsel and Chief Legal Officer at the Ringier Group since 1 October 2020. Before this, he worked for many years as a lawyer at Schellenberg Wittmer, one of Switzerland’s leading commercial law firms, where he became a partner in 2008 and a board member in 2015. He mainly handled complex litigation in state courts and arbitration tribunals, regularly focusing on ownership, estate and governance disputes. He also advised large family businesses on matters of governance, dispute avoidance and succession planning. Liatowitsch studied Law at the University of Basel, where he also earned his doctorate. He then spent two years in the USA (as a visiting fellow at Yale University, New Haven, and a foreign associate at one of the leading law firms in New York), and since then has also regularly held teaching positions at the University of Zurich. He is the author of various legal publications, as well as co-author of a successful textbook in private international law.
