Derek Komar has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Derek began their career in 2013 as the Co-Founder and Owner/Operator of Coffee Drop SLC. Derek then worked as an Intern in Sales and Marketing at Eagle Eye Expositions, LLC in 2014. In 2015, they joined Emerald as a Sales Representative, where they achieved impressive results in generating revenue and maintaining client relationships. In the same year, Derek also worked as an Assistant Coach at Vassar College, contributing to the team's success and counseling student athletes. Derek then moved on to Reed Exhibitions, where they held roles as a Sales Executive in Launchpad and in the Central Sales Group, handling new business development and exhibit/sponsorship sales. Derek's next position was at Argyle as an Account Executive in 2018. From 2019 to 2021, they served as the Digital Sponsorship Sales Manager at Worldwide Business Research (WBR). Derek then took on the role of Member Development Executive at The Conference Board in 2021, where they connected executives with member-driven analytics and knowledge sharing. Most recently, they held roles at NeuroLeadership Institute, starting as a Client Advisor and then being promoted to Senior Client Advisor, where they successfully launched a new Mid-Market territory and generated substantial pipeline and revenue. Derek's most recent role is as an Associate Vice President at Rinvio (Ignite Recruitment) since 2024.

Derek Komar holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Economics and Music from Sarah Lawrence College. Derek also has education experience in Politics, Sociology, and Education from Brandeis University and in Calculus, Philosophy, and Politics from Vassar College. In terms of additional certifications, Derek has obtained multiple certifications including "Mastering Authentic Influence for Highly Successful Sales" from LinkedIn in 2024, "Becoming Head of Sales: Developing Your Playbook" from LinkedIn in 2023, "Brain Based Conversation Skills Certification" from the NeuroLeadership Institute in 2023, and several sales-related certifications from HubSpot and Sandler Training.
