Alan Kobussen

Alan Kobussen is an experienced geologist with a notable career at Rio Tinto since October 2011, where current roles include Senior Manager of Technology Development and Principal Geologist focused on Exploration Technology Development. Responsibilities have included the identification and advancement of technologies to enhance exploration success and overseeing various diamond exploration projects in Canada. Previous positions at Rio Tinto involved project management and internal R&D in mineral chemistry and exploration strategies. Prior to Rio Tinto, project experience at NSW Trade & Investment involved promoting geological exploration in New South Wales, while a post-doctoral role at Macquarie University centered on developing analytical models of heat flow related to southern Africa's geodynamics. Alan Kobussen holds a Ph.D. in Earth & Planetary Sciences from Macquarie University, a Master's Degree in Geophysics, and a Bachelor of Science in Geology and Geophysics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
