Ayaz Ahmad

Ayaz Ahmad is an accomplished electrical and control systems engineer with extensive experience in the mining and energy sectors. Currently employed at Rio Tinto since January 2021, Ayaz has played a critical role in enhancing plant performance and HSEQ risk management while serving as a subject matter expert on various projects. Notable previous positions include multiple secondments at Whitehaven Coal, where responsibilities encompassed electrical engineering roles, risk management, maintenance planning, and compliance assessments. Earlier experience includes work with Visionstream on telecommunications projects, a maintenance supervisor role at Cars of Melbourne, and research at Victoria University. Ayaz holds a Bachelor's degree (Honours) in Power System Engineering from Victoria University and a Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Physics from the University of Peshawar.
