George Kevin Chapin

George Kevin Chapin is a seasoned engineering professional with extensive experience in mine planning and geotechnical engineering. Currently serving as a Senior Engineer in Strategic Mine Planning at Rio Tinto since 2017, George Kevin coordinates multi-disciplinary studies, develops life-of-mine designs, and collaborates with stakeholders to report resource and reserve findings. Previously, George Kevin held roles as a Geotechnical Engineer focused on studies and monitoring, where responsibilities included long-range geotechnical design and slope stability management. Academic credentials include a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Mining and Mineral Engineering from the University of Utah. Additional experience includes engineering internships and project management in various organizations, as well as service as a Wildland Firefighter.
