Kevin Chong

Kevin Chong is an accomplished engineering professional with extensive expertise in asset management and reliability within the utilities sector, currently serving as Principal Engineer (Utilities Reliability) at Rio Tinto since October 2012. Kevin leads a team of Asset Health and Reliability Engineering experts, focusing on the sustainable performance and maintenance of power, water, and hydrocarbons assets. Recognized globally as a technical expert and thought leader, Kevin has contributed to asset management practices across Rio Tinto through collaboration and mentoring. Prior experience includes strategic leadership roles at Western Power and Transpower, where Kevin managed capital and operational expenditure programs while providing technical guidance on asset performance and compliance. Kevin holds a Master of Engineering Management with Honours from The University of Auckland and a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Canterbury.
