Matthew Bates is an experienced finance professional with a robust background in business partnering, financial reporting, and technical accounting within the mining and resources sectors. Currently serving as Senior Manager Finance Business Partner at Rio Tinto, Matthew has held various key positions including Group Reporting Executive and Finance Consultant for divestment projects. Prior to the current role, Matthew was General Manager of Finance at Pacific Aluminium, and Regional Chief Financial Officer at Rio Tinto Alcan, among other significant roles across multiple Rio Tinto divisions. With over two decades of experience, including positions at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Matthew possesses a deep understanding of financial consolidation, compliance, and strategic planning. Matthew holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Birmingham.
