Jeff Yang

Jeff Yang is the current CTO at Rising Team. Prior to that, they were a software engineering manager at Facebook from July 2016 to January 2021. While at Facebook, Jeff founded and grew several Machine Learning teams within the Community Ecosystem Growth org. Jeff also started Happy and Successful, an engineer support circles program with over 50 participants.

In response to shutting down in person FB Events due to COVID-19, Jeff built the Online Events Distribution team. Jeff pivoted the product towards digital events and its unique challenges, focusing on growth and quality.

Over the last 2 years our org had developed expertise in distribution, growth, and ML that other teams in the Community umbrella needed. The CEG Ventures team leverages our experience to accelerate new ventures within Community. We helped grow a number of new products, including Campus, Neighborhoods, Learning, Public Communities, and Group Rooms.

Happy and Successful came out of my desire to make sure all engineers had a place to go to feel supported and gain control over their lives and careers. Jeff iterated on and refined the format of the program, eventually training other circle facilitators to run their own circles. We had over 50 participants and we reported significantly increased levels of happiness and success and, more importantly, an even larger increase in the sense of control over these variables going forward.

Jeff Yang has a BS in Computer Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and an MS in Computer Science from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Their manager is Jennifer Dulski, Founder & CEO. Some of their coworkers include Charlene Fitzgibbon - Head of Brand & Comms, Tanya Herrgott - Head of Design, and Henry Finkelstein - Head of Data & Customers.
