Robert Thies

Robert Thies is an experienced anchor and reporter with a focus on news broadcasting, currently serving as the morning news anchor for Mississippi River Radio in Southern Illinois since August 2016. Prior to that role, Robert gained customer service experience as a teller at First National Bank of Ava from September 2015 to December 2017 and worked as a sales associate at Walmart from July 2012 to August 2015. In the realm of journalism, Robert produced a live student-run newscast for River Region Evening Edition from 2011 to May 2015, reaching nearly 5 million viewers across three states, and won the Student Silver Dome award for best TV Weathercast in 2014. Additionally, Robert hosted the Scholastic Hi-Q program as a multi-media journalist from 2013 to 2015. Robert holds a degree from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, earned in 2015.
