Martha Siegel has a range of experience in the arts, education and legal professions. She began her career as a public-school art teacher in the Boston area, but transitioned from classroom teaching to museum education at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, where she worked on both school and community programs, including art classes and gallery-based family programs. Later, as a freelance writer and acquisitions editor at a publishing house, Martha worked with authors and book designers to develop, edit and design educational resources for art teachers. Martha returned to school after 10 years to study law and subsequently joined Morrison and Foerster, a San Francisco law firm, where she worked on intellectual property issues in both the litigation and licensing contexts. In addition to pursuing her own artwork, for the past 15 years, Martha has played the role of parent, advocate, teacher and champion to her daughter, Juliet, who is a high-school student at Riverview. Martha lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband, Adam Elsesser, and their daughter, Claudia, who is a high school student. Their adult children, Lili and Aidan, live and are employed in Oakland, CA.
