Principal Expert Virology , Centre For Infectious Disease Control at RIVM National Institute for Public Health and the Environment

Chantal Reusken is a prominent expert in virology, currently serving as a Professor of "Emerging viruses in One-Health Context" at Faculteit Diergeneeskunde, Universiteit Utrecht, since June 2025. Reusken holds a position on the board of KNVM Virology, contributing to virology research interactions in the Netherlands, and acts as Chair of the WHO Collaborating Centre on Lab preparedness and response for high-threat pathogens and biorisk. Reusken also participates in the WHO's Technical Advisory Group on Arboviruses, focusing on global arbovirus impacts. As a Principal Expert in Virology at RIVM's Centre for Infectious Disease Control and Coordinator of EVD-LabNet, Reusken addresses challenges posed by emerging viruses. Additional roles include being a member of the Editorial Board for Eurosurveillance and Editor of the journal Infection Ecology & Epidemiology. Reusken's academic background includes a Ph.D. in Molecular Virology from Leiden University and extensive research and leadership experience in public health virology.
