Manon Westra is a data analyst at Rijksinstituut voor Volksgezondheid en Milieu since February 2023. Previously, Manon served as a PhD candidate at Universiteit Utrecht from December 2017 to September 2023 within the department of Cell Biology, Neurobiology & Biophysics, focusing on the dynamic organization of the neuronal postsynaptic membrane under the supervision of Dr. Harold MacGillavry. Prior research experience includes internships at Universiteit Utrecht, investigating the dynamic subsynaptic distribution of AMPAR subunits; at VUmc, exploring the relation between network topology and molecular characteristics in brain tumor patients; and at CNCR, studying the role of perineuronal nets and PV+ interneurons in memory impairments in an Alzheimer’s disease model. Manon holds a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, completing studies there from 2012 to 2017, and attended Alkwin Kollege from 2006 to 2012.
