James McCourt

Chief Risk Officer at Royal London Group

James McCourt joined Royal London in 2012. Before his appointment as Chief Risk Officer in 2019, he held a number of key leadership roles - including Group Chief Conduct Officer (RMLIS), Chief Risk Officer (RLAM) and Director of the Investment Office. Passionate about the financial services industry - in particular the role of risk management in creating strategic advantage - James has worked across a number of sectors, having held senior roles in private equity, banking and insurance firms. With more than 20 years of experience, he focuses on ensuring a robust control environment is also an enabler of first-class customer service.

James is a past lecturer at Glasgow University on Investment and Taxation. He holds a PhD from the University of Edinburgh and completed the Strategic Asset Management course at London Business School.
