Shayan Pirani has worked at a variety of companies since 2016. In that year, they began working as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Shayan also worked as a Software Developer Intern at The Home Depot. In 2017, they worked as a Digital Platforms Intern at The Coca-Cola Company and as a Research Scientist I and Student Assistant at the Georgia Tech Research Institute. In 2021, they began working as a Consultant at Slalom and in 2022 they began working as a Software Engineer II at Roadie. At the Georgia Tech Research Institute, Shayan developed and enhanced a product by writing and debugging Python and JavaScript code for malware analysis tasks, web backend code, and web frontend code. Shayan also coordinated weekly deployments to production and created Python unit tests and Selenium-based UI tests. At the Georgia Tech Research Institute, Shayan leveraged state-of-the-art academic research on machine learning security to implement evasion and model-stealing attack algorithms in Python. Shayan also used React to build a web-based user interface that communicates with a Python-based web backend server over a RESTful API. Shayan trained and tested machine learning models using TensorFlow 2.0 and Keras.
