Jessie Duan

Chief of Staff to CTO at Roblox

Jessie Duan is currently the Chief of Staff to the CTO at Roblox. Jessie has a long and accomplished history in the tech industry. Jessie was previously a Technical Advisor at Tiny Totos Kenya from February 2020 to April 2020. Prior to that, Jessie was an Engineering Manager at Quora from August 2015 to February 2020. Jessie led the Core Product team of 9 engineers while at Quora and was able to drastically reduce long-term team maintenance burden by implementing process changes that were eventually adopted by other teams. Jessie also overhauled Quora's hackathon program by focusing it around company impact and re-energizing both participants and leadership. In addition, Jessie launched Quora’s Engineering Apprenticeship Program to increase engineering team diversity.

Before their time at Quora, Jessie was the President and Co-Founder of Code.X from July 2015 to January 2020. Code.X is a non-profit organization that empowers youth in developing countries. They run a three-year computer science and design thinking program for high schoolers and have reached 200+ students across Palestine, Albania, and China.

Jessie started their career as a Software Engineer Intern at Khan Academy from June 2014 to September 2014.

After completing their B.S. in Applied Mathematics at Stanford University, Jessie Duan pursued a Master of Science in Computer Science at the same school. Jessie is currently completing their education at the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics.

Jessie Duan reports to Daniel Sturman, CTO. They work with Enrico D’Angelo - VP, Product, Economy & Ecosystems, Max Ross - VP, Engineering - Platform, and Claus Moberg - VP, Engineering.
