Janet Emsley has an extensive background in education and public service. Currently serving as a Councillor for Littleborough Lakeside with Rochdale Borough Council since May 2014, Emsley holds the position of Deputy Leader and is the portfolio holder for Equalities, Safety, and Reform. Prior to this role, Emsley worked as a Welfare and Community Officer at Wardle Academy from September 2012 to August 2015, focusing on staff welfare and community support. Emsley's long tenure at Wardle High School from September 1989 to August 2015 included roles as Director of Performing Arts and Teacher, where responsibilities included managing music tutors and teaching multiple subjects to students. Emsley's teaching career began at Balderstone School and Oulder Hill Community School. Emsley holds a Master's degree in Education (Leadership and Management) from The Open University, along with a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from De La Salle College and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies from the University of Hull.
