Arjen J van Tunen

Arjen J van Tunen is a seasoned professional in the agri-food sector, currently serving as a Strategy Advisor at Rijk Zwaan and an Arbitrator for the Agricultural Crops Licensing Platform. As of September 2023, Arjen is also involved as a mentor for AgriFoodTech startups at StartLife and for startup companies at Rockstart and Biotope by VIB. Additionally, Arjen holds the position of CEO at TunenAgroFood BV since July 2023 and has been a member of the Supervisory Board at KWR Water Research Institute since August 2020. With a long tenure as a board member of Foodvalley NL since 2010 and an advisory role at KeyGene from November 2004 until July 2023, where significant contributions to innovation in crop improvement were made, Arjen's expertise is also rooted in academia, having directed the Swammerdam Institute for Life Sciences at the University of Amsterdam from 2001 to 2004. Arjen holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Medical Biology from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, along with leadership training from The School of Leadership by Ebbinge.
