Jerome E. Dennis

Standards Consultant at Rockwell Laser Industries

Jerry Dennis recently retired after 33 years in the Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH), U.S. Food and Drug Administration where he had been the agency’s international expert in laser and optical radiation safety and safety standards.

Prior to joining the CDRH, Jerry had spent 15 years in industry. He was the Manager of High Energy Laser Products for Hadron, Inc. in New York. Here he was responsible for engineering support for terawatt Nd glass laser systems form CGE in France that are used in fusion research as well as for the firm’s domestic product line of pulsed and CW laser systems and their industrial applications. He had been with TRG, Inc. in New York when Hadron had spun off from TRG in 1968. At TRG he was involved in research and development of high power pulsed laser systems for military and industrial applications.

His early experience was with the Naval Material Laboratory in New York where he was in research on the effects of optical radiation from nuclear weapons. Jerry holds a bachelor of science degree from Fordham University in New York City.
