Derrick Pettelle currently serves as the Mission Granting Coordinator and previously held the position of Membership Services Coordinator at the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation since April 2019, focusing on member inquiries and support. Prior experience includes serving as a Wilderness Ranger with the U.S. Forest Service from May 2017 to November 2018, where Derrick worked on access improvement projects in the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness. Earlier roles with the U.S. Forest Service as a Forestry Aid involved trail work in the Bob Marshall Wilderness for three seasons. Derrick also gained leadership experience as a Field Crew Leader for the Montana Conservation Corps, where leadership development and community service were key components. An initial role as an Invasive Weeds Crew Member with the Montana Conservation Corps highlighted Derrick's commitment to environmental conservation. Derrick holds a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University.
