Charles S. Gilford III

Director at Rocky Mountain PBS

Charles is a Colorado native who earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management, Human Resources and International Business from the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado-Boulder, where he served over 33,000 students as the youngest student body president in the University’s history. After university, Charles spent several years leading and serving at Fortune 30 media giant Comcast in their corporate talent and human resources division.

Charles currently serves as the Director Regional Affairs to Mayor Michael B. Hancock in the City and County of Denver. In this role, his scope includes being a bridge between the Executive Branch, Legislative Branch, and Regional partners; his focus and approach is to work collaboratively recognizing everyone’s critical and equal role in the ecosystem of serving people. He manages several projects including a project to improve prompt payment of $3.45 billion dollars in CAPEX city spending, drove a project to shift departments from line item budgets to program based budgeting systems to ensure maximum impact and departmental output, is the site lead for the National Western/Coliseum COVID19 unhoused response efforts, and also works to enhance equity-based initiatives to ensure meaningful outcomes departmentally and citywide.

Additionally, he serves as the Western Region Vice President for the National Urban League Young Professionals. Charles is also the Executive Pastor at The Potter’s House of Denver, services as a Gubernatorial appointee to the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention department, is an Executive Board Member for the Cherry Creek Schools Foundation, Commissioner and Chair for the Human Relation Commission for the City of Aurora, and advisory board member for the University of Colorado at Boulder’s Leadership Institute. He is alumnus of the President’s Leadership Class at CY Boulder, Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce Leadership Denver program, and member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated.

Most importantly, Charles is a loving and devoted husband to his beloved wife Rikki and proud father to his darling daughter Liliana and his beloved son Charles IV. He enjoys reading, riding horses/herding, watching documentaries, listening to old Presidential primary debates, studying history, and engaging in meaningful dialogue with people from all spectrums of thought.
