Darcy believes that learning and working together outdoors is a powerful catalyst for developing the tenacity, flexibility, empathy, and confidence youth need in today's incredibly dynamic world. She feels that RMYC's focus on service learning, technical skill building, and emotional intelligence development helps young people create a future for themselves, the environment, and their communities that should give us all optimism and enthusiasm for what lies ahead. Darcy spent much of her career as human resources and workforce development professional in public service and nonprofit roles. An advocate for rural places and people, Darcy has worked throughout Colorado and understands the large, interconnected, and diverse Northwest Colorado region that RMYC serves. Darcy earned a BA in Philosophy from the University of Colorado in 1994 and an AA in Outdoor Recreation from Colorado Mountain College in 2018. She recently completed Wilderness First Responder (WFR) training and a field-based Outdoor Educator Course with the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) and now works in the outdoor education field. In this time when a deep appreciation for divergent perspectives, narratives, and ways of knowing is so needed, Darcy is honored to be part of RMYC, an organization genuinely dedicated to inclusion, shared respect, and transformational understanding.
