Sergei Istomin

Sergei Istomin, PhD, is a seasoned humanitarian aid worker currently engaged with Rode Kruis-Vlaanderen since August 2022. With a rich background in music, Sergei has been a soloist and chamber musician for Canadian and European recording labels since January 1995. Additionally, from October 2012 to October 2021, Sergei served as a professor and teacher at various institutions, including KASK en Conservatorium/HOGENT and howest, specializing in viola da gamba and 19th-century violoncello performance practice. Sergei also conducted artistic research in music at Ghent University between 2012 and 2018 and holds a PhD in Music from the same institution, complemented by significant educational accomplishments from Oberlin College and Moscow State Conservatory.
