Andrew Ryder

Director at Roma Education Fund Romania

He is an Associate Professor at Corvinus University Budapest and an intern at the Third Sector Research Center (University of Birmingham). From 1990 to 2001 he worked as a teacher in public schools and, together with the British Council team, taught Roma children in the UK, Hungary and Portugal.

From 2002 to 2006, Ryder was a consultant to the Coalition for the Reform of Roma and Travelers Rights (GTLRC), which lobbied for more open spaces for travelers and greater social inclusion. The GTLRC received the Liberty Human Rights Award in 2004. Ryder was a researcher in the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Roma and Travelers from 2002 to 2007. Between 2006 and 2009 he was a national policy officer for the Travelers Movement. His interests focus on Travelers / marginalized groups, social justice, community groups / social movements and participatory research. Ryder was recently hired by Policy Press to write a book on Brexit.
