David Amico has a diverse work experience in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany, New York. David served as the Director of the Office of Lay Ministry & Parish Faith Formation from 1998 onwards. Additionally, they directed the three-year program called the Kateri Institute for Lay Ministry Formation, providing individuals with the necessary knowledge and skills to be effective ministers in their parish communities. David also held a role in the Office of Evangelization & Catechesis. Prior to their work in the diocese, Amico was involved with St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hudson, New York from 1991 to 1998.

David Amico has an M.Ed in Education/Religious Education from Boston College, which they obtained from 1999 to 2005. Prior to that, they received a BA in Classics, Theology from St. Bonaventure University, where they studied from 1981 to 1985.
