Meet Minneapolis
Melvin Tennant, II MA, CAE serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Meet Minneapolis, leading the city's destination marketing efforts and supporting over 35,000 hospitality workers since March 2007. Previously, Melvin held the role of Executive Director at Sports Minneapolis from January 2017 to December 2020, where strategic initiatives aimed to establish Minneapolis as a premier sports destination. Melvin's experience also includes serving as CEO of Internet Destination Sales System, Chief Innovation Officer at Innovative Management Resources, and Executive Director at the San Antonio Convention & Visitors Bureau. Additional leadership roles include President and CEO positions at Visit Charlotte and the Oakland Convention & Visitors Bureau, along with an Assistant Executive Director role at the Irving Convention & Visitors Bureau. Melvin's career in the convention and visitors' bureau sector began as Associate Director of Sales at the Greater Houston Convention & Visitors Bureau. Melvin holds a BA in Managerial Studies from Rice University and is associated with the American Society of Association Executives.
