Amy Merk is a seasoned graphic designer with extensive experience in art direction and design for major publications. Currently serving as a Graphic Designer for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama since January 2022, Amy previously held the position of Art Director for Hoffman Media, where responsibilities included producing content for Cooking with Paula Deen magazine and various Special Interest Publications. With a solid background in freelance graphic design and art direction, Amy contributed to editors and creative directors at Amy Merk Graphic Design and Southern Living Magazine, enhancing the visual identity of numerous magazine sections and special projects. Early in Amy's career, valuable experience was gained as a Graphic Designer for IBM, focused on creating service proposals and promotional materials. A graduate of Auburn University with a B.F.A. in Graphic Design, Amy has cultivated a strong foundation in design principles and collaborative work throughout a career spanning over two decades.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama
Families from throughout Alabama, across the United States and from around the world come to Birmingham's hospitals seeking life-saving treatment for their critically ill children. Often times, they come to Birmingham exhausted, scared and financially drained as they struggle to pay for overwhelming medical bills. Our House currently cares for 73 guest families every night, providing them with a "home-away-from-home" while their children receive medical treatment. In addition to providing a comfortable bedroom, we surround our families with love and support from our volunteers, staff and other guest families who share the same hopes and fears. We also provide home-cooked meals, activities, indoor and outdoor play areas, laundry facilities, computers and WiFi, and much more so that our guest families can concentrate on what is most important: family. We also provide a comfortable, relaxing place to rest and re-group while only steps away from a sick child’s bedside at our Ronald McDonald Family Room at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa and the Ronald McDonald Family Room at UAB Women & Infants Center.
