Katja Rüger has an extensive work experience in the field of scientific research. Katja started their career as a Laboratory Intern at Distelhäuser Brauerei in 2014, where they were responsible for daily quality control in the microbiological and chemical laboratory. Katja also led a project to introduce a gas pressure monitoring device for determining yeast vitality. In 2016, they worked as a Research Intern at OncoMed Pharmaceuticals, where they focused on evaluating novel tumor-associated antigens as potential targets for immunomodulatory therapeutics. Katja tested mouse cell lines for target mRNA and protein expression. From 2017 to 2019, they worked as an Associate Scientist at UCB. In 2020, they joined Teneobio, Inc. as a Research Associate I, responsible for protein purification and evaluation of antibody lead candidates for several drug targets. Katja was promoted to Research Associate II in 2021. In 2021, they also worked as an Associate Scientist at Amgen. Currently, they are employed at Rondo Therapeutics as an Associate Scientist and Scientist.
Katja Rüger completed their education at the Strasbourg School of Biotechnology (ESBS) from 2013 to 2016, earning a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Biotechnology. Prior to that, they attended Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 from 2010 to 2013, where they obtained their Bachelor's degree (Licence) in Genetics and Cell Biology.
In addition to their formal education, Katja also obtained certifications in French (DALF C2) from Centre Culturel Francais Freiburg in June 2015, and in English (TOEFL) from Université Lyon 2 in February 2013.
