Ira Hoffman has an extensive work experience in the music industry, with a focus on business and legal affairs. From 2016 to the present, they have been working at Universal Music Publishing Group, starting as the Director of Business Legal Affairs and then being promoted to the role of Senior Director. In 2022, they became the Vice President of Business & Legal Affairs. Prior to their time at Universal, Ira worked at Bienstock & Michael, LLC as an Associate from 2012 to 2016, representing and advising clients in various aspects of the music business. They also served as a Legal Intern at Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts in 2012, providing pro bono legal services to entertainment clients. In 2011, Ira was a Legal Intern at both The Indie Film Clinic, Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and WNET.ORG, gaining experience in representing filmmakers and advising on music-copyright issues. They also had an internship at MediaNet Digital in 2009, where they summarized and organized digital distribution agreements. Prior to that, Ira worked as the Managing Partner of Blue Fringe, LLC from 2001 to 2010, overseeing album production, contract negotiation, and copyright registration.
Ira Hoffman earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Yeshiva University in 2007. Later, they attended Cardozo School of Law from 2009 to 2011, where they obtained a Juris Doctor degree specializing in Intellectual Property and Communications Law.
