Renesha Westerfield, MSBH, PHRca has a diverse work experience spanning different industries. Renesha started their career as a Student Intern in Labor and Delivery, where they gained experience in patient care. Renesha then worked as a Media Preparation Lab Assistant and Chemistry Lab Assistant at the University of San Francisco, where they contributed to lab preparations and sterilization processes. Renesha also served as a Biofeedback Specialist at Southland Spine & Rehabilitation Medical Center, providing stress-relieving techniques to clients.
In their subsequent roles, Renesha transitioned into the field of human resources. Renesha worked as an Assistant Administrator at CCH Senior Housing and as a Recruitment and Retention Specialist at Homebridge, Inc. Renesha furthered their HR expertise as a Human Resources and Administrative Manager at Pyramid Alternatives Inc. and as a Human Resources Manager at Gaetani Real Estate.
Renesha's most recent positions include being a Project Manager/Executive Assistant at GLIDEsf, where they contributed to social justice and advocacy initiatives, and their current role as the Director of Human Resources and Staff Development at Roots Community Health Center, where they lead HR strategies to uplift those impacted by systemic inequities. Through their work experience, Renesha has developed extensive skills in human resources, staff development, and community-based counseling.
Renesha Westerfield has a strong educational background in the field of Behavioral Health. Renesha obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Behavioral Health from the University of San Francisco in 2015. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biology at the same institution. Renesha also holds a Professional in Human Resources - California® (PHRca®) certification, which they obtained in June 2022 from the HR Certification Institute - HRCI.

Roots Community Health Center is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to reducing health disparities in East Oakland, California. Roots is the first community health center in East Oakland to provide physician care at patient homes and residential facilities. Roots Community Health Center celebrated the opening of its new facility at 9925 International Blvd. in March of 2011. Our mission The mission of Roots Community Health Center is to uplift those impacted by systematic inequities and poverty by providing culturally responsive, comprehensive healthcare, behavioral health, and wraparound services; identifying and addressing root causes of illness and suffering; and emphasizing self-sufficiency and community empowerment. Roots Community Health Center accomplishes its mission by providing top-quality healthcare, conducting community-based participatory research, and offering opportunities for rehabilitation, education, training, and employment to reduce poverty and dependency in our community. Roots implements its programs and services while honoring the “roots” of culture, heritage, and tradition; by providing unprecedented access to services; by remaining community-aware and community-responsive; and by establishing partnerships to ensure a more efficient continuum of care in Oakland.
