Matthew Richards

Matthew Richards is a highly experienced transactional lawyer who has served as a Partner at Ropes & Gray LLP since May 2012, specializing in acquisition, financing, and restructuring matters, with extensive representation of private equity funds, portfolio companies, and both private and public entities. Prior to this role, Matthew held a Partner position at Kirkland & Ellis LLP from October 2001 to May 2012 and worked as an Associate at Fenwick and West from January 2006 to January 2007. Additionally, Matthew served as a Law Clerk for Hon. W. Eugene Davis at the US Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit from August 2000 to August 2001. Matthew holds a Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Chicago Law School, a Master of Arts in History from Columbia University, and a BA in History from The Johns Hopkins University.
