Dr. Jeanie Webb was selected by the Rose Sate College Board of Regents to serve as the institution’s seventh president. Her career in higher education has spanned over thirty years where she has worked not only as an accomplished administrator but also as a dedicated faculty member.
Before joining the Rose State family, Dr. Webb held several faculty and administrative positions at Northeastern State University. Progressing from an instructor to assistant professor to associate professor, she has taught both undergraduate and graduate level courses in General Psychology & Human Behavior; Human Relations & College Orientation; Career Development; and Institutional Services & the College Student. Concurrently serving as an administrator, Dr. Webb served in various roles such as academic advisor, recruiter, Director of student activities, Director of the Muskogee Campus/Weekend College, Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dean of the Muskogee Campus and finally, Dean of the NSU Campuses at Tulsa, Muskogee and Claremore.
In 1998, Dr. Webb joined the RSC team as the Associate Vice President of External Affairs and was promoted to the Vice President for Student Affairs in 2000. As Vice President, Dr. Webb has led several campus initiatives and committees such as Achieving the Dream, Recruitment & Retention and the Graduation Committee. Within Student Affairs, Dr. Webb adopted a culture of teamwork, innovation and data-driven practices. Because of strong personal conviction, she maintained personal contact with the Rose State students through the leadership scholarship program which has grown from 20 students to over 150 students. These many varied experiences in higher education administration and academics formed the basis of her selection as the President of Rose State College.
Since assuming presidency in 2013, Dr. Webb brought a renewed energy and focus to Rose State as it transitions to a new generation of students. The campus is in the midst of a $22M, 5-year bond project. With a vision to enrich the student experience, Dr. Webb added a collegiate Soccer program and began construction on student housing. Additionally, because of the challenges of increasing competition and the mandate to increase student completion, Dr. Webb initiated a thorough review of the degree programs which has led to over 1,000 pages of curriculum revisions. Other processes analyzed for relevance and effectiveness are the Strategic Plan and Campus Master Plan. The internal improvements are going a long way to update and refresh the campus and its offerings. However, the Rose State progress is not limited to the internal assets. Rose State College has also developed multiple strategies to improve its external presence to increase its competiveness in the modern marketplace. These improvements include new messaging with the primary new tagline: Going Somewhere Starts Here; a new, student-focused and student-friendly website; and a new branding image which is incorporated into other marketing efforts like social media, billboards, radio ads, banner ads, and other media initiatives. It is through Dr. Webb’s leadership and vision that Rose State College is positioning itself to become the first choice for students.
