Before that, they worked as an Equity Analyst at JP Morgan from 2000 to 2009 and as an Associate Analyst at Hambrecht & Quist from 1999 to 2000. Barton also has experience in the media industry, having worked as a Reporter for MSNBC from 1996 to 1999 and as the West Coast Bureau Chief & reporter for American Banker from 1992 to 1996. Barton began their career as a Senior Editor and reporter at Network World from 1988 to 1992 and as a Reporter at InformationWeek from 1987 to 1988.
