Kyle Naylor, PhD has extensive work experience in the field of cellular biology and cultivated meat production. Kyle recently joined Roslin Technologies as a Stem Cell Crustacean Scientist in May 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Mzansi Meat Co. where they held various roles. As a Senior Scientist - Cell Line Development, they were responsible for overseeing cell line development and optimizing the expansion and maintenance of different cell cultures for cultivated meat production. Their expertise in molecular biology allowed him to characterize and study eight different cell lines, including the creation of Africa's first cultivated beef burger using a bovine cell line in April 2022. In addition, they also served as the Head Research Scientist at Mzansi Meat Co. Building upon this foundation, they pursued further studies at the same institution and completed a Bachelor of Science (BSc) Honours degree in Genetics in 2015.

In pursuit of their passion for marine biotechnology, Kyle joined the University of Cape Town in 2015 to pursue a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Marine Biotechnology. This program, which they completed in 2017, allowed him to delve deeper into their chosen field of study.

Continuing their academic journey, Kyle remained at the University of Cape Town and embarked on a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program in Molecular Biology in 2017.
