Principal Engineer at Rotor

Scott R. has extensive work experience in the field of aerial robotics and autonomous systems engineering. Scott is currently employed as a Principal Engineer at Rotor since February 2022. Prior to this, Scott was self-employed as an Aerial Roboticist since January 1987.

Scott has also worked at various companies, including AeroVironment where they served as an Autonomy Robotics Engineer, Principal from August 2019 to February 2022. Scott was a Senior Perception Engineer at Aurora Flight Sciences Corporation from December 2018 to August 2019, and a Principal Autonomous Systems Engineer at Top Flight Technologies, Inc. from October 2017 to November 2018.

Before joining Rotor, Scott spent a significant portion of their career at Draper, where they held several positions such as Senior Autonomous Systems Engineer from January 1998 to October 2017, Senior Member of Technical Staff from August 2010 to September 2017, Member of the Technical Staff II from February 2000 to September 2000, and C.S. Draper Fellow from February 1998 to January 2000.

Scott also has internship experience at GARRAD HASSAN & PARTNERS LIMITED, where they worked as an Engineer Intern from January 1992 to December 1992, and at McDonnell Douglas Helicopters, where they had an Engineer Internship from November 1991 to January 1992.

Scott R. has a strong educational background in engineering and computer science. Scott attended the University of Sydney from 1987 to 1994, where they earned a Bachelor of Engineering (hons.) degree in Aeronautical Engineering. Additionally, during their time at the University of Sydney, they also pursued a Bachelor of Science (hons.) degree in Computer Science from 1987 to 1990. After completing their undergraduate studies, Scott R. went on to pursue a Master of Science (MS) degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Their studies at MIT took place from 1994 to 2000.
