Routt County Humane Society
Routt County Humane Society (RCHS) is a nonprofit community resource dedicated to encouraging respect for the dignity and worth of all animals by providing safe haven, promoting adoption, and decreasing the number of unwanted pets. We believe in second chances and are committed to advocating for animals and the people who love them. RCHS, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, was established in 1985 and is located in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. RCHS operates an open admission shelter that welcomes nearly 700 dogs, cats and small animals that find safe haven in their greatest time of need. RCHS provides them with shelter, veterinary care, food, socialization, enrichment, compassion and the time they need to heal, be reunited, or find their forever home. There are no time limits for animals at RCHS. Steamboat Springs and Routt County contract with RCHS to provide animal holding services and RCHS operates the only animal crematory in the county.
