Kent Cavender-Bares has held a variety of roles in the environmental and renewable energy field since 2000. From 2000-2008, they were a Senior Research Associate at The H. John Heinz III Center for Science, Economics and the Environment, and a Research Scientist at Climate Central, Inc. from 2008-2009. In 2009, they became the Founder and Director of Dialogue Earth, as well as the Director of Dialogue Earth and Assistant Director for Bioenergy Systems, Initiative on Renewable Energy and the Environment (IREE) at the University of Minnesota's Institute on the Environment (IonE). Finally, in 2012, they became the CEO & Co-founder of Rowbot Systems.
Kent Cavender-Bares received their BS in Agricultural and Biological Engineering from Cornell University in 1989. Kent then attended Stanford University and obtained an MS in Environmental Engineering in 1990. Following this, they attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology and obtained a Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering in 1999.
