Julia has held various managerial positions in organizations such as RANZCP, Hamilton Stone, and Fire and Rescue NSW. Thoener has also managed relationships with government bodies and departments during their tenure at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and Parliament House. Julia's educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Honours degree from The University of Queensland.

The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) is responsible for training, educating, and representing psychiatrists in Australia and New Zealand.
