Peter Barkley

Peter Barkley is an experienced cybersecurity professional with a strong background in cloud security and DevOps. At RBC since May 2009, Peter has progressed through various roles, starting as a Support/BlackBerry Development Co-Op and advancing to Sr. Director of Cloud Security Controls. In this capacity, Peter leads the cloud security strategy and implementation, having previously directed cloud security development initiatives and automated internal security processes. Notable achievements include deploying hundreds of controls across major cloud platforms, implementing Policy-as-Code, and achieving significant reductions in manual security request fulfillment. As a founding member of RBC's Security Operations Center, Peter has contributed to threat intelligence analysis, automated incident response, and built robust security orchestration procedures. Peter holds a B.Tech. in Informatics and Security from Seneca Polytechnic, complemented by prior education at the University of Waterloo.
