Danny Thorpe

Danny Thorpe is a Leader & Cabinet Member for Communications & Corporate Services at ROYAL BOROUGH OF GREENWICH. Danny was previously an Executive Member for Crime & Public Protection at London Councils from February 2020 to October 2020. Prior to that, they were a Class Teacher at Windrush Primary School from September 2016 to August 2018 and a Teacher of English at Woolwich Polytechnic School from September 2014 to August 2016. Danny also worked as a Class Teacher at Oakfield Primary School from September 2012 to August 2014 and as an Event Manager (London 2012) at London Borough of Hackney from July 2010 to August 2012. Danny Thorpe has also served as an Events Officer at London Borough of Camden from January 2008 to June 2010. Danny has been a Leader at Royal Borough of Greenwich since May 2018 and a Deputy Leader & Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Sustainability since May 2016. Danny has also been a Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Transport at Royal Borough of Greenwich from May 2014 to April 2016. Lastly, they have been a Councillor (Shooter’s Hill) at Royal Borough of Greenwich since May 2010.

After completing their undergraduate degree in politics and social policy at Goldsmiths, University of London, Danny Thorpe went on to complete a graduate teacher programme to earn their Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

They are on a team with Nigel Fletcher - Opposition Leader, Leo Fletcher - Deputy Mayor. Their manager is Denise Hyland, Mayor.
