Michael Downing

Michael Downing is an experienced security professional with a diverse background in maritime safety and protection. Currently serving as a Public Safety Officer at Royal Caribbean Group since February 2023, Michael has previously held leadership roles as Deputy Chief Security Officer at Mano Security, Team Leader at multiple companies including Mano Security, Black Pearl, Zeal Global Maritime Solutions (UK) Ltd, and 30 South Maritime. Additionally, Michael worked as a Maritime Security Officer at Salama Fikira. A graduate of Grail Solutions with a degree in Ships Security Officer and Maritime Law Enforcement, Michael also holds a Senior Certificate from Tygerberg High School and is undergoing training at Ihawu Firearm Centre. Michael's extensive experience includes service in the South African Navy as an SA Marine from February 1989 to December 1999 and providing close protection in the private sector from January 2000 to January 2013.
