Peter Lachman has a diverse work experience in the healthcare field. Peter has served as the International Lead Faculty for Leadership Quality Improvement and Patient Safety at the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland since 2013, where they develop and delivers courses to improve healthcare in Ireland. Peter is also the Chairperson of the Paediatric International Patient Safety and Quality Community (PIPSQC), an international collaborative that aims to advance patient safety and quality in pediatrics.
Peter has been a faculty member at conferences and forums for the Institute for Healthcare Optimization (IHO) since 2012, where they promote the use of operations management and patient flow variability management techniques in the healthcare industry.
In addition, they have worked with the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) as a faculty member since 2006, contributing their expertise to conferences and forums. Peter founded their own company, PLC Consulting UK LTD, in 2011, where they offer training and change interventions to hospitals and healthcare organizations.
Peter has also held leadership positions, including Chief Executive Officer at ISQua from 2016 to 2021, where they focused on quality and safety in healthcare, and National Clinical Lead S.A.F.E. at the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) from 2014 to 2018.
Prior to these roles, Peter served as the Deputy Medical Director (Patient Safety) and Consultant in Service Redesign and Transformation at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust. Peter was responsible for advising on transforming healthcare delivery and spearheaded a 3-5 year program aimed at achieving zero harm, no waste, and no waits for patients.
Peter also worked as a Consultant Paediatrician at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust from 2005 to 2016, and as the Designated Doctor for Safeguarding Children at NHS Camden Clinical Commissioning Group from 2011 to 2014.

Peter Lachman completed their education in a number of institutions. Peter attended King David High School from 1965 to 1969, where they received a Matriculation degree. Peter then went on to study Economics and Sociology at the University of the Witwatersrand from 1971 to 1973, earning a B.A. degree. Later, they pursued a medical degree at the University of the Witwatersrand from 1974 to 1979, achieving an MBBCH degree. Peter further specialized in Child Health, completing degrees in FCP paediatrics and DCH at the College of Medicine South Africa from 1984 to 1987. Peter continued their medical education at the University of Cape Town from 1987 to 1996, obtaining an M.Med. and MD degree in Paediatrics. Lastly, they attended Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health from 2005 to 2006, earning an MPH degree in Clinical Effectiveness.
