Executive Director, Membership, Marketing & Communications at ROYAL COLLEGE OF SURGEONS OF ENGLAND

Lucy Davies is the current Executive Director of Membership, Marketing, and Communications at the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Prior to this, they served as the Head of Operations at EngTechNow from November 2014 to May 2015. EngTechNow is a collaboration project between the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) who have joined forces with the Gatsby Charitable Foundation to develop a game-changing plan to meet the needs of the UK economy by increasing the number of registered Engineering Technicians (EngTechs) from 15,000 to 100,000 by 2020.

In their role at EngTechNow, Lucy was responsible for leading the team to achieve key milestones and targets, sustaining funding for the life of the project, driving the client support process, and conducting timely research on validation of new engineering employer businesses to ensure a sufficient pipeline of engineering technicians to meet the targets. Lucy also worked collaboratively with the three PEI membership teams, the Engineering Council and Gatsby Foundation to ensure integration, alignment and ultimately the successful election of technicians to EngTech.

Through their work at EngTechNow, Lucy has demonstrated their dedication to increasing access to opportunities in STEM fields for underrepresented groups. Lucy is a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion in STEM, and continues to work towards increasing representation of women and other traditionally underrepresented groups in these fields.

Lucy Davies started their educational career by completing a BA (Hons) in Public Policy Management from Sheffield Hallam University. Lucy then went on to complete a Fellowship Research Programme in Fellowship of professional bodies from the University of Oxford (SKOPE). After that, they completed a Project Management course in Project Management from Prince2 Practitioner.
