Dan Harris (FRMetS CMet) serves as the Deputy Chief Operational Meteorologist at the Met Office since October 2007, where responsibilities include supporting the Chief Operational Meteorologist in leading operational teams and providing expert guidance on meteorological applications over the medium range period. Harris has held various roles within the Met Office, including Senior Operational Meteorologist and Learning Consultant, where significant contributions included the production of vital tropical and southern hemispheric datasets. In addition to this role, Harris works as the Weather News Editor for the Royal Meteorological Society since January 2022, focusing on compiling and editing meteorology-related news stories for the Weather journal. Educationally, Harris holds a Bachelor's Degree in Meteorology & Oceanography from the University of East Anglia, completed in 2007.
