Kevin Thomas is an experienced professional in meteorology and oceanography, currently serving as a photographic editor at the Royal Meteorological Society since March 2021. Since October 2016, Kevin has also been a volunteer family mentor at Back Up, supporting families affected by spinal cord injuries. Kevin's prior roles include serving as a broadcast meteorologist at the BBC from January 2009 to February 2022, where duties included delivering weather forecasts and producing content for social media. Kevin has a background in the Royal Naval Reserves as a meteorological and oceanographic forecaster from February 2009 to April 2017, and in the Royal Navy from September 1981 to February 2009, where responsibilities included developing tri-service environmental policies and leading teams in providing critical information for maritime and aviation operations. Kevin holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Science (Micrometeorology) from the University of Portsmouth.
