Liz Bentley has held various roles in the field of meteorology and communication throughout their career. Liz first worked as the Met Office College Chief Instructor at the Met Office from 1999 to 2002. Liz then moved on to become the Head of BBC Weather at the BBC from 2002 to 2006. Afterwards, they worked as the Environment Research Programme Leader at the UK Ministry of Defence from 2006 to 2008. Following that, they joined the Royal Meteorological Society (RMetS) and held several positions, including Head of Communications from 2008 to 2010, Head of the Weather Club from 2010 to 2013, and currently holds the position of Chief Executive since November 2013.
Liz Bentley obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Newcastle University between the years 1987 and 1990. Liz then pursued further education at The University of Manchester, where they completed their Doctor of Philosophy in Applied Mathematics from 1990 to 1993.
