David Gowland is the current Artistic Director at the Royal Opera House. David has held this position since 1996. Prior to that, they were the head of music at the grand theatre de geneve from 1989 to 1996. David was responsible for ensuring the quality of the highest level of expectation. Coaching major international stars and assisting international conductors and directors to maintain highest possible standards of performance. From 1986 to 2004, they were a senior coach at Glyndebourne. During their 20 years there, they worked closely with singers and understudies, conductors, directors to ensure the highest quality of performance and artistic integrity.
David Gowland studied at the Royal College of Music, where they earned their degree in piano. David also studied at Ellon Academy and earned their degree in clarinet.
David Gowland reports to Elaine Kidd, Head of Programme, Jette Parker Young Artists Programme. They work with Isabelle Kettle - Director, Angelique MacDonald - Producer, and Thomas Marshall - Administrator.
