Janet Askew

Past President RTPI 2015 at Royal Town Planning Institute

Janet Askew serves as the President of the European Council of Spatial Planners - Conseil Européen des Urbanistes (ECTP-CEU) since November 2021 and as a Visiting Professor at Ulster University since September 2018. In addition to consulting as a Town Planner since July 2016, Janet Askew has held several positions within the Royal Town Planning Institute, culminating in Past President in 2015. Academic contributions include roles such as Former Director of Academic Engagement and Head of the Department of Planning and Architecture at the University of the West of England, Bristol, from 1988 to 2016. Janet Askew's career in planning began at Shankland Cox Partnership in 1974 and includes experience as a Planning Officer at Shetland Islands Council and Senior Planner at Penrose Associates. Educational qualifications were obtained from Cardiff University and the University of Wales, Cardiff.
