Jacob Shirley has a strong professional background, beginning with their time in the United States Air Force from 2010 to 2018. During their time there, they served as a System Administrator, managing a $10B Air Force Network and providing mission critical support to 845 thousand users in over 205 locations. Jacob also rebuilt or upgraded Domain Controllers and DHCP servers across multiple domains to improve performance, identified and defended against simulated and real world cyber-attacks, and discovered multiple phishing attempts on several users. Additionally, they served as an Honor Guard, assisting with the arrival and wreath-laying ceremonies at the Pentagon and Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and greeting Russian Chief of Defense and the UK Prime Minister on different occasions.

From 2018 to 2019, Jacob Shirley worked as an Information Assurance Engineer at General Dynamics Mission Systems. Jacob then moved to Raytheon, where they served as a Sr. Systems Engineer from 2019 to 2021. Most recently, Jacob Shirley has been employed as a Data Analyst at Occam Solutions, Inc. since 2021. Jacob is currently employed as a Full Stack Cloud Engineer at Royce Geo, a position they have held since 2022.

Jacob Shirley attended Penn State University from 2018 to 2020, where they obtained a degree in Information Systems and Technology with a focus in Information Technology. Jacob also attended USAF Technical School from 2012 to 2013, studying Cyber Systems Operations. Jacob also attended Academy of Richmond County.
