Edward Smith has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Edward began their career as a Programmer/Analyst at HD Supply in 1998, followed by working as an Independent Contractor for E-commerce Programming from 2000 to 2002. Smith then joined the US Army as a CH-47 Pilot from 2002 to 2008, participating in Operation Iraqi Freedom. After their military service, they worked as a Logistics Specialist/Linux Administrator at J.F. Taylor, Inc. from 2008 to 2009. Smith then became a Project Technical Lead at White Oak Technologies, Inc., where they focused on entity-centric search and analysis across structured and unstructured data sources from 2010 to 2011.

In 2011, Smith joined Cisco, where they held two roles: Software/Security Architect from 2017 to 2020 and Software Engineer/Manager from 2011 to 2017. During their time at Cisco, they contributed to a data quality management and workflow application and managed a large-scale IP and Domain reputation reporting system for Cisco customers.

Following their tenure at Cisco, Smith worked as a Data Engineer at Multi Media, LLC from 2020 to 2021. Edward then joined the University of Maryland Medical System as a Sr. Data Engineer in 2021, where they led a team of six in fulfilling the data needs of medical research. Currently, Smith serves as the Cloud Services Lead at RRAI, where they are responsible for bootstrapping the Product Security process and managing the company's cloud resources.

Edward Smith earned a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Philosophy, and Spanish from the University of Central Florida from 1995 to 1998. In 2007, they pursued a Master's degree in Operations Research at The University of Alabama for one year. Additionally, Edward obtained the Duolingo Spanish Fluency: Elementary certification from Duolingo in 2015.
