Beginning in 1985, Mr. Minaya served in the front office of the Texas Rangers, where he established and directed Major League Baseball’s first professional scouting department. In 2002, he became the general manager of the Montreal Expos, leading the team’s baseball operations. From 2004 to 2010, he served as general manager of the New York Mets, overseeing a period of significant organizational transformation. In 2009, President George W. Bush appointed Mr. Minaya to a 16-month term on the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. Most recently, in 2023, Mr. Minaya was named Senior Advisor to Baseball Operations for the New York Yankees, where he has spearheaded the organization’s international expansion initiatives.
